We were asked not to recognize the results of the elections, the request was from the president as well, I want to see the report, whether the elections were fair or not, - the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, told reporters before the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, the current situation in Georgia is not good.
"When we told Georgia that they were close to the European Union and we opened negotiations, that was the moment when they decided that, well, we can do whatever we want, and they went in the wrong direction, moreover, they stopped moving on the road to Europe. I see that they have internal problems between the government and the president. It is a fact, if I am not mistaken, that they asked us not to recognize the results of the elections, the request was also from the side of the president. I want to see the report, whether the elections were fair or not, and if this is the will of the Georgian people, then we must respect their will," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg.
According to him, talking about sanctions and punishment is typical for Europeans.
"The only thing we can say to Georgians is that there are rules and if you don't want to respect the rules, then ciao! Hasta la vista!", Xavier Bettel said.
