Gia Japaridze: We want to call on the international community, it is no longer time to make empty statements, the time has come for them to take concrete, effective steps

We want to call on the international community, it is no longer time to make empty statements, the time has come for them to move on to taking concrete, effective steps, Gia Japaridze, a member of the "Unity National Movement", stated this at a joint briefing of representatives of 4 barrier-crossed parties.

According to him, the demands of the opposition regarding the release of detainees and holding of re-elections remain valid. At the same time, Japaridze states that if Georgia's visa-free travel to the European Union is stopped, it will be the merit of "Georgian Dream" from start to finish.

"Our main demands remain in force. First - all arrested people must be released. We believe that all of them are political prisoners. The authorities have not presented a single argument against any of the detained persons, which is why they may be detained, including the 5 persons who were taken from the office of the Youth Organization of the Nationalist Youth Organization. Not a single detainee has committed any kind of action that contradicts the legislation of Georgia. Second, our demand for re-election remains valid. Re-elections are the only way out of the crisis created by "Georgian Dream" in the country. Thirdly, we want to call on the international community, it is no longer time to make empty statements, it is time for them to take concrete, effective steps," Japaridze said.
