Patriarchate: The attack by unknown persons on "TV Pirveli" journalist and cameraman causes a well-founded fear that the process will become unmanageable - we call on the government to immediately investigate and stop similar actions in the country

It is clear that we are facing a serious public controversy, therefore decisive measures should be taken urgently to promote the peaceful process in the country, - it is stated in the statement of the Public Relations Service of the Patriarchate.

According to the Patriarch's explanation, the attack by unknown persons on the journalist and cameraman of "TV Pirveli" causes a well-founded fear that the process will become unmanageable and similar violent actions will become more frequent.

The Patriarchate calls on the government and representatives of the state structure to immediately investigate and stop similar actions in the country.

"Unfortunately, the situation in our country is still tense. Yesterday evening, the attack of unknown persons on the journalist and cameraman of "TV Pirveli" causes a well-founded fear that the process will become unmanageable and similar violent actions will become more frequent. We emphatically state that violence and aggression, unhealthy processes and actions that lead to the division of society and conflict are unacceptable for the church. We call on the government of Georgia and the representatives of the state structure to immediately investigate and stop similar actions in the country. We are clearly facing a serious public controversy, therefore decisive measures should be taken urgently to facilitate the peaceful process in the country.

We appeal to all members of society, regardless of political affiliation and opinion, not to follow the provocation, to show maximum restraint and common sense. Let's take care of our fellow citizens and in these difficult days let's especially strengthen the prayer for peace and unity! "May the Lord give strength to the nation, may the Lord bless the nation with peace" (Ps. 28, 11)", the statement of the Patriarchate states.
