People's Power leaves the parliamentary majority and joins the opposition

Our political party, "People's Power", decided to leave the parliamentary majority and thereby start the existence of a healthy opposition in Georgia, Guram Macharashvili, a deputy of the "People's Power" party, said about this.

According to him, the party made the decision because there is practically no healthy opposition in the country and "we have the so-called radical opposition".

"Unfortunately, along with all the problems, the problem in the country is that there is practically no opposition, there is no healthy force that should play its role, which is called the role of the opposition, to argue with the government for the development of the country, to criticize the government for progress. We can clearly see that we called the opposition radical opposition, and that didn't help either. Accordingly, in Georgia today we have a government elected by the people, but unfortunately, we have the so-called government financed by foreign forces. Radical opposition. Based on this, we, the political party "People's Power", have decided to leave the parliamentary majority and thus lay the foundation for the existence of a healthy opposition in Georgia. We will show the population in Georgia and beyond, which, unfortunately, they have forgotten, what a healthy opposition should be, the political force that is in the parliament, is not in power, but should work for the interests of Georgia.

We have repeatedly said that we had no principled incompatibility with the "Georgian Dream". It is about the fact that there are issues where, as we mentioned at the time, we had different opinions with the "Georgian Dream". We also want to remind the public that two and a half years ago, when we left the "Georgian Dream" party, there were many questions about how correct this decision was. It turned out that this decision worked, and very strongly. Therefore, we promise the public once again that the "People's Power" party will definitely create the political platform that we have talked about many times, which will be in a healthy opposition mode," Macharashvili said.

It should be noted that the Parliament supported the initiative of "People's Power" and approved changes in the regulations in an accelerated manner, on the basis of which "People's Power" was given the opportunity to create a political group. The parliamentary political group, as an exception, existed only for members of the parliament of the previous convocation.
