Representatives from the diplomatic corps of six countries are set to attend the court hearing of David Gogilashvili, who was detained on November 30 under administrative procedures.

Ahead of the hearing, Gogilashvili stated that the diplomats expressed their own interest in attending the session.

Gogilashvili, who was charged under Article 173 of the Administrative Offenses Code (disobedience to police), was detained on Ukrainka Street while returning home from a protest.

According to him, he did not resist law enforcement officers, yet he claims his detention was unjust, alleging physical assault during the arrest, which resulted in a broken nose and a concussion. Gogilashvili also reported being left outside a detention facility for nine hours before being taken to a hospital.

“This was an act of intimidation and torture, meant to scare me from attending future protests,” Gogilashvili asserted.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that diplomats from the Czech Republic, the European Union, Estonia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Denmark are attending the hearing.
