The current relations with the West and the US are not pleasant - we have repeatedly explained that we are ready to improve relations, the main thing is that it be mutual, - the mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, stated at a session of the Tbilisi municipality government.
As Kaladze noted, the Georgian government will not take a step that “we know from the very beginning that will be disastrous for our country”.
“The Georgian government, as we have stated many times, has been doing everything and will continue to do everything in the future to accelerate the processes on the path of European integration. If we have achieved any success on this path, it is the merit of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia. Under our government, all the progress has been made and the steps that we have had in recent years have been taken. But blackmail, constant threats, insults, demands for a second front, joining sanctions - these are topics that are directly harmful to our country, to the population. We will not allow, we will not do something that we know from the beginning will be disastrous for our country, but other countries may take advantage of it and use it for their own ends. We do not want to give anyone the opportunity to use Georgia to pursue the interests of some other big country. We only want friendship, partnership and deepening of relations. Of course, the relations that we have now with the West and the USA are not pleasant. The Georgian government has repeatedly explained that we are ready to improve these relations, to reset the existing relations. This is not welcome for anyone. We are ready for healthy relations, the main thing is that they be mutual," said Kakha Kaladze.
