Irakli Kobakhidze: President Zurabishvili invited the opposition and NGOs in order to schedule new parliamentary elections and create a stir - someone smart advised her not to do this

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, yesterday President Salome Zurabishvili invited the opposition spectrum and the NGO sector to the presidential palace in order to schedule new parliamentary elections.

According to the Prime Minister, at the meeting, “someone smart advised Salome Zurabishvili not to do this.”

As Kobakhidze explained, the President’s goal was to create a stir.

“The OSCE/ODIHR once again confirmed the simple truth that the parliamentary elections in Georgia were successful. Accordingly, the emotional background in the opposition has become even more severe. Also, the emotional background of Salome Zurabishvili has become even more severe, and against this hysterical background, an interesting discussion took place yesterday between Salome Zurabishvili and other representatives of the radical opposition. Among them, representatives of NGOs. We are told that they had serious discussions regarding the appointment of elections. In fact, the opposition spectrum and NGOs gathered with the very intention of calling parliamentary elections yesterday. The goal was clear - to create a stir,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to Kobakhidze, a briefing was held with the President, but in the end the initiative to call new elections was not voiced.

“Someone smart advised Salome Zurabishvili not to do this,” said Kobakhidze.
