You will agree, it will be a very bad scenario if we have to forcibly remove her [Salome Zurabishvili] from the residence and transfer her to a correctional facility. Of course, this is not a desirable scenario. This may be convenient for Salome Zurabishvili’s patrons, and they might give such an order, but it won’t be a good look, - said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, it is their duty to warn Salome Zurabishvili not to commit a crime, and as a result, avoid her participation in such an unpleasant scenario.
“I believe, in this case, Salome Zurabishvili will act wisely. I want to remind you that this cannot be a repeat of the Melia scenario, this is not a party office, this is the residence of the President of Georgia. Therefore, playing out the same scenario there would mean committing a criminal offense, which entails a long prison sentence, not only for Salome Zurabishvili herself, but for anyone involved in this scenario. Based on this, I don’t think, first of all, Salome Zurabishvili would sacrifice herself for prison and also condemn 100-150 people who may be associated with her. Therefore, I do not expect such an irrational scenario to play out.
It is our duty to warn Salome Zurabishvili and other relevant individuals. This is not only our right but our obligation. Any government should be focused not on repression but on crime prevention. Our task, in this case, is to prevent crime. So, of course, we need to warn Salome Zurabishvili. You will agree, it will be a very bad scenario if we have to forcibly remove her from the residence and transfer her to a correctional facility. Of course, this is not a desirable scenario. This may be convenient for Salome Zurabishvili’s patrons, and they might give such an order, but it won’t be a good look, that’s how I would put it. This, of course, will not bring down the country, nothing extraordinary will happen, but it simply will not be a good look. Therefore, our duty is to warn Salome Zurabishvili not to commit a crime, and as a result, avoid her participation in such an unpleasant scenario,” said Kobakhidze.
