The inauguration of Mikheil Kavelashvili, elected to the post of president by the Electoral College, will be held today

The inauguration of Mikheil Kavelashvili, elected as president by the Electoral College, will take place today at the Parliament Palace.

The ceremony will be held in the plenary session hall.

Kavelashvili will take the oath on the Constitution and the Bible, after which he will assume presidential powers.

According to the Constitution, before assuming office, the newly elected President of Georgia takes the following oath:

"I, the President of Georgia, swear before God and the nation to uphold the Constitution of Georgia, protect the country's independence, unity, and indivisibility, diligently fulfill the duties of the President, care for the security and well-being of my country's citizens, and strive for the revival and prosperity of my people and homeland."

The inauguration ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM and is expected to last about 40 minutes.

Members of the Electoral College, including Members of Parliament, representatives of local self-governments, members of the Supreme Councils of Adjara and Abkhazia, the Government of Georgia, constitutional bodies, and representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church, are invited to attend the event.

However, representatives of the diplomatic corps have not been invited to the ceremony.
