The Georgian government has declared January 9 a day of mourning.

As stated in the statement issued by the government administration, the decision is related to the tragedy in Saberio.

"By decision of the Georgian government, in connection with the tragedy that occurred in the village of Saberio in occupied Gali, which claimed the lives of five children, January 9 has been declared a day of mourning.

According to the relevant government decree, signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, on the occasion of the day of mourning, state flags will be lowered from administrative buildings across the territory of Georgia.

The Georgian government once again expresses its condolences to the families and relatives of the children who died in the fire," reads the statement.
