Irakli Kupradze: They should look at the MPs in Parliament; if anyone was an odious feudal during the 'National Movement' era, they are sitting in the 'Georgian Dream' now – they should investigate themselves

Irakli Kupradze: "They should look at the MPs in Parliament, starting from the officials, ending with the deputies; if anyone was an odious feudal during the 'National Movement' era, they are sitting in the 'Georgian Dream' now. They should investigate themselves," said Irakli Kupradze, one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia," commenting on the statement by the leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, that "a temporary investigative commission will be created to study the activities of the regime that was in power from 2003 to 2012, and its findings will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office to ensure the punishment of the criminals."

According to Kupradze, the "Georgian Dream" is responsible for the failure to investigate the crimes committed during the rule of the "National Movement."

"Whoever the 'Georgian Dream' targets next, despite the many crimes committed during the 'National Movement,' the responsibility for not investigating these crimes lies with the 'Georgian Dream.' Twelve years have passed, and nothing has been investigated at all. The only reason for this is that the 'Georgian Dream' copied all the methods of pressure on business, human rights violations. When we compare it to the period before 2012, the situation in terms of administrative legislation and human rights protection has worsened.

The 'Georgian Dream' could have investigated, but they didn't. There was no permission for that. We remember the legendary meeting between Murusidze and Bidzina Ivanishvili in the Glass Palace, when Bidzina Ivanishvili patted Levan Murusidze on the back and said this man will be the guarantor of judicial independence. In reality, Levan Murusidze made a new deal and, while serving the 'National Movement' before, now serves Bidzina Ivanishvili. These people are still doing bad things. If the so-called Khareba once asked for two bodies along with Vano Merabishvili, today they are mutilating people in the streets on Bidzina Ivanishvili's orders," said Kupradze.

According to Kupradze, the "Georgian Dream" is a lying force, and their statements about the punishment of the "National Movement" have no value.

"The 'Georgian Dream' is a traditional lying force, and their similar statements are without any value or sense of condition. The 'Georgian Dream' promised the Georgian people several times, first to punish the 'National Movement' and then to ban opposition parties. Not only did they fail to ban them, but they didn’t even have the courage to revoke our powers as parliamentary representatives. Ivanishvili, Kobakhidze, and others didn't even have the courage to expel us from Parliament, even though they wanted to. They didn’t dare to revoke our mandates. Meanwhile, the statements were written, lists were canceled. Why aren’t they doing this if they want to take any real steps? Each time, at every stage, they lie to their voters and tell them they will finish off the opposition, ban them. What crimes do they need to investigate? They have the deputies of Adeishvili in their party, those who committed crimes are sitting in the 'Georgian Dream.' They are all involved in the crimes of the 90s, both with the Mkhidroneli and the coup-makers, and during the 'National Movement' era. Everyone from the judicial system, from the Prosecutor’s Office, has migrated to the 'Georgian Dream,'" said Irakli Kupradze.

Kupradze believes that the "Georgian Dream's" promise to ban the "National Movement" and associated parties is a propaganda message.

"We've heard these promises before. We remember the famous promise that they would 'finish you off,' and not only did they fail to do that, they couldn't even dare to start the process. This is a cowardly political force, whose political steps are only based on propaganda," said Kupradze.
