In Italy, 19 Georgian women were arrested for possession and production of fake identification documents. This information was reported by local media.

According to the reports, following an investigation conducted by the Udine Prosecutor's Office, the state police carried out searches in 52 locations across 12 provinces as part of a large-scale operation against illegal migration.

Territorial offices of the Udine Province Revenue Agency informed judicial authorities that a significant number of Georgian women were presenting themselves as EU citizens using identification documents from EU member states (Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania) to obtain tax codes.

This allowed them to acquire work permits and benefit from the legal, tax, and healthcare advantages available to EU citizens. Subsequently, they would relocate to other provinces where finding work was easier.

Investigators suspect the existence of a well-structured organization producing the documents abroad and supplying them to buyers for approximately 600 euros. The investigation is ongoing to identify individuals who purchased the fake documents.

According to Italian media, if it is confirmed that the detainees do not meet the requirements for regular residency in Italy, they will be deported.
