Employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs expelled 37 citizens of various countries from Georgia last month on the basis of the Law of Georgia on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons, the Ministry of Internal Affairs disseminates information reports.
According to the Ministry, some of the foreign citizens left Georgia voluntarily, while others were forcibly expelled from the country as a result of measures taken by the Migration Department employees.
“A total of 37 citizens of Moldova, Egypt, Armenia, Russia, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, India, Bangladesh and Nigeria were expelled from the country on the basis of the Law of Georgia on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the body responsible for combating illegal migration within the country. One of its competencies is to identify foreign citizens who are in Georgia without legal grounds and to carry out their expulsion from Georgia," reads the information released.
