Tina Bokuchava: An important decision that we made at today’s meeting in the common opposition format is that no one will participate in Tea Tsulukiani’s Russian commission – I hope the joint opposition format will become the basis for other joint decisions

An important decision that we made at today’s meeting in the common opposition format is that no one will participate in Tea Tsulukiani’s Russian commission. This Russian commission serves an attempt to rewrite Georgia’s recent history in Russian and is directed against Georgia’s state interests, - Tina Bokuchava, the chairwoman of the National Movement, said after meeting with the fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, regarding the Georgian Dream temporary commission investigating the activities of the National Movement government.

Bokuchava expressed her desire for the joint opposition format to become the basis for other joint decisions.

“The meeting, for the most part, was about President Salome Zurabishvili’s visit to Munich, to the Munich Security Conference, where, in the conditions of the international isolation of Ivanishvili’s Russian regime, there were no representatives of the unrecognized, illegitimate government, and it is important that Georgia’s national interests are being voiced precisely by Salome Zurabishvili. Naturally, there was talk about the importance of new parliamentary, fair elections, and the release of political prisoners as the only way out of this political crisis.

One important decision, which we also made at today’s meeting in the general opposition format, is that no one will participate in Tea Tsulukiani’s Russian commission in the illegitimate parliament, which has no legitimacy, no recognition, and we all understand that this Russian commission serves an attempt to rewrite Georgia’s recent history in Russian and is directed against Georgia’s state interests.

I think that in this sense, the joint opposition decision not to participate in this illegitimate, Russian commission is a very important statement, and I would really like this format, among others, to become the basis for many similar joint decisions, because I believe that in this truly civilizational war, where Ivanishvili declared war on the Georgian people on behalf of Russia, declared war precisely in the interests of Russia against the Georgian people, against our national interests, against our Euro-Atlantic aspirations, in this struggle only moral clarity, clear positions, and unity are what determine the success of the opposition. This, of course, does not imply formal unification, but moral and political clarity on all fundamental, important issues, such as the main demands, and these are new parliamentary, fair elections, the release of political prisoners, non-participation in the Russian commission, and I hope that the list of these joint demands and positions, including as a result of working in this format, will expand even further,” Bokuchava said.

The chairwoman of the National Movement also touched upon the incident at the airport, where Salome Zurabishvili was attacked. According to Bokuchava, Salome Zurabishvili has injuries to her face.

"President Zurabishvili has injuries to her face, and it is truly extremely shameful and shows Ivanishvili's un-Georgian face, when, unfortunately, young girls and boys are being used as "titushki" to abuse the institution of the president, to abuse Georgian women," Bokuchava noted.
