On February 25, the day of the Soviet occupation, several protest marches and rallies will be held in Tbilisi. Also, according to the organizers, on February 25, at 16:00, “Georgia will go on strike”.

In addition, the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, called on citizens to gather on Rustaveli Avenue at 21:00 on February 25 with the slogan: “No to Russian occupation”.

As for the schedule of the marches:

At 17:45, the Maro Makashvili march will start from Vake Park.

At 17:30, the Junkers march will start from Amagleba Street.

At 17:30, people will gather from Avlabari Metro Station for the General Mazniashvili march.

At 18:00, the Valiko Jugheli March will begin from Marjanishvili Square.

At 18:00, the Valodia Goguadze March will begin from the Station Square.

At 18:40, the Gogi Aleksi-Meskhishvili March will begin from the area adjacent to the Sports Palace.

According to the organizers, the marches will finally unite at Heroes Square, “with the belief that the Georgian flag will always fly over Georgia!”

“February 25 is a tragic day in the history of Georgia, because on this very day, in 1921, by capturing Tbilisi, Russia stopped Georgia’s democratic and European development.

In November 1921, the Georgian people went on strike and in this way showed their resistance to the Russian occupation. Of course, this was not enough to restore independence, and the repressions of 1924 and 1937 suppressed the idea of independence for decades.

February 25 is a day that reminds us of what can happen to us if history repeats. Today, Georgians face exactly the same existential threat, where we will either win or lose the most valuable thing - state independence and freedom.

We have been standing in the streets for three months now, defending our future, and unlike in the past, we are much stronger in this struggle.

Therefore, on February 25, at 16:00, Georgia will go on strike”, reads the statement of organizers.
