Salome Zurabishvili has tormented herself with attempts to maintain the relevance of her persona. These attempts—her political maneuvers—are futile, said the First Vice Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski, in response to reports that Georgia’s fifth president plans to announce an action plan in the coming days.
According to Volski, “Salome Zurabishvili keeps publishing ‘charters’ and presenting her European travels as if she alone is deciding Georgia’s fate, but none of this yields results.
Since 2022, she has been trying daily to position herself as the leader of the opposition, attempting to replace Saakashvili as the head of this collective ‘United National Movement.’ She has practically turned her back on the people who elected her and is now aligned with those who once insulted her in the harshest terms. Those insults are still relevant today, even if they are not voiced as loudly.
Zurabishvili keeps making these attempts—publishing ‘charters,’ presenting her European visits as if she is shaping Georgia’s future—but they have no effect because everyone knows what she stands for, what she wants, and whose interests she serves. Her goal is no different from that of Levan Khabeishvili, Tina Bokuchava, Zurab ‘Girchi’ Japaridze, or Teona Akubardia.
Therefore, these political maneuvers of hers are pointless. Now she will publish yet another charter, and some will scramble to get signatures from people who, just yesterday, were calling her degrading names. This constant maneuvering and scheming have become a defining trait of this former president,” Volski said.
