I urge Georgians to continue the fight! Do not give up! I do not want to see the Belarusianization of Georgia – this was stated by Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in an interview with InterpressNews' special correspondent in Brussels.
According to her, Georgia should not experience Belarusianization.
"Georgia was a great example for Belarus, as you advanced so far with the desire to join the family of European countries, and now you are going through very difficult times. I do not want to see Belarusianization in Georgia, where governments oppress all those who do not agree with the authorities. I truly urge Georgians to continue the fight and stand by their principles and values," said Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
Additionally, she mentioned that Georgians are an "inspiration" for the Belarusian people.
"This is a tough time, but we stand firmly by your side, and you are our inspiration. Just do not give up, as we have not given up for so long. I hope you will not need as much time, but still, you must believe and fight.
I do not want Georgia to be like it was during Stalin’s time, and for the repression that Belarusians are living through now, where you do not understand the rules and can be arrested for the wrong colors [referring to the Belarusian democratic republic flag] or for speaking in your own language.
I hope we won’t see that in Georgia, but dictators learn very quickly from each other, and therefore, democratic countries and nations striving for democracy must unite in the fight against Belarusianization in its negative sense," said Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
