As a result of recent operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Main Division for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 9 people on charges of drug crimes, including 4 drug dealers.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detainees include both Georgian and foreign citizens.
"The crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The police, based on a judge's ruling, conducted controlled drug purchases from individuals arrested on charges of illegal sale and secretly recorded audio and video of the purchases.
Law enforcement officers, during searches of the detainees, their homes and cars, seized various types of drugs in particularly large quantities, including "heroin", "cocaine", "Alpha PVP", "Methadone", "Tramadol", "Pregabalin", "Lyrica" and about 3,000 "Subotex" pills containing "buprenorphine" as evidence.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 19-260 and 19-261 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the information states.
