The propaganda of the "Georgian Dream" was that the protests had died down, that people no longer went to rallies, but despite the fact that attending protests consciously means a fine of 5000 GEL, people still attend protests.
This is a deliberately taken step by them against Georgia, - said Paata Manjgaladze, the Secretary-General of "Strategy Agmashenebeli," during a briefing at the "Civic Society Foundation" office.
According to Manjgaladze, the March 22 protest showed that the protest movement has not weakened, and he expects even more people to attend the announced protest on March 31.
He also mentioned that the March 31 protest will be a kind of referendum – "Do we want freedom and Europe, or Ivanishvili's oppressive regime?"
"When we started protests, we had three strategic goals: First - non-recognition of the government within the country and the opposition’s non-participation in parliament. Not a single person could be found symbolically to cooperate with them. Internal isolation already exists. Second - isolation of the regime on the international stage, almost at the legislative level, isolation of the regime in the Council of Europe and the European Union. The main strategic goal was to sanction those oppressors who use violence against the people. These three goals have mostly been achieved, but there is still more to do.
They need to be put under discomfort; they don’t steal money, and they don’t rob the people just to hide that money in offshore accounts. For them, using this money is important. The UK's measures and the "MEGOBARI Act" will deprive "Georgian Dream" of space," said Paata Manjgaladze.
He also commented on the coordination between Georgia's fifth president and the opposition, stating that now is the time for the opposition to stop being divided and to create an agenda for the country.
"Because of the opposition's division, we are unable to create an agenda. Active coordination means not only being in a reactive mode but also actively creating an agenda. We will not be commentators on the agenda created by the 'Georgian Dream.' We will create our own agenda, and 'Georgian Dream' will follow that agenda.
Two paths are fighting in Georgia: the first - Ivanishvili's and "Georgian Dream's" path - a weak, vulnerable Georgia left alone without allies, which may become an easy target for Russia, and the second, with European and American allies, which is the main guarantee for development and protection. "Georgian Dream" is increasing the risk of war, how? - If Georgia is without allies and weak, Russia attacks the weak.
For those who care about Georgia, we must all find a way out of this crisis situation.
The Ivanishvili regime has taken Georgia hostage, but it is important that the taking of Georgia hostage and isolating it by "Georgian Dream" does not harm Georgia. We want the regime to be sanctioned, but we will do this in a way that the Georgian people do not suffer.
Regarding the statements from members of the "Georgian Dream" that "Salome Zurabishvili and the opposition are zero," in the elections, "Georgian Dream" wrote 48% for us, so how are we zero?" said Paata Manjgaladze.
