Visually and perceptually, this is a circus and masquerade, but the content and goals are very hostile — they are asking Georgia's defenders for answers on why they defended Georgia, this is a betrayal commission, stated Paata Manjgaladze, the General Secretary of "Strategy Aghmashenebeli," in connection with the temporary investigative commission in the Georgian Parliament studying the activities of the "National Movement."
According to him, statements made in the commission are already being cited in the Russian Duma and are being used against Georgia.
"Visually and perceptually, this is a circus and masquerade, but the content and goals are very hostile, it is hypocrisy to punish and demand answers from those who defended Georgia. They are asking Georgia's defenders why they defended the country. This is a betrayal commission, which is a tool for repression.
The statements made in this commission are already being cited in the Russian Duma, they are quoting Tsulukiani, and is it good when they are using this against Georgia?
As for banning opposition parties based on the investigative commission's conclusions, they are doing this to avoid talking about the real problems in the country and to shift the focus to this. They have no other business. This is the classic of the genre; they cannot cancel anything or anyone," Paata Manjgaladze said.
For reference, the Executive Secretary of the "Georgian Dream," Majority Leader Mamuka Mdinaradze, stated that the "Georgian Dream" plans to appeal to the Constitutional Court of Georgia, based on the findings of the parliamentary investigative commission, to declare the "National Movement" and its satellite parties unconstitutional. Additionally, as Mdinaradze noted, the mandate of the investigative commission studying the activities of the "National Movement" will be expanded to include the period after 2012.
