Tina Bokuchava: We will join the format, but when Ivanishvili's regime is dismantling the state and handing us over to Russia, there is no time to waste on formats that are illusory and ceremonial – we will cooperate as needed

"The United National Movement does not distance itself from any format aimed at joint opposition efforts to defeat Ivanishvili’s regime," wrote Unity - National Movement chairperson Tina Bokuchava on social media regarding the "Resistance Committee" proposed by Salome Zurabishvili.

As Tina Bokuchava explained, the opposition does not have a unified stance on fundamental issues such as the 2008 war commission, party bans, and local self-government elections.

"The United National Movement does not distance itself from any format aimed at joint opposition efforts to defeat Ivanishvili’s regime, no matter how low our expectations might be regarding its effectiveness. These expectations are based on the past five months, during which the United National Movement participated in all meetings organized by Salome Zurabishvili, yet we saw very limited results in forming unified positions.

The opposition lacks a common stance on fundamental issues such as the 2008 war commission, party bans, and local self-government elections. Salome Zurabishvili initially had a firm position against participating in local self-government elections but later changed her stance, considering Gakharia’s position.

We will cooperate with this format on a case-by-case basis, as needed. If the discussion is about not participating in local self-government elections, the release of political prisoners, and scheduling parliamentary elections, we will certainly join the format. However, today, when Ivanishvili’s regime is dismantling the state and handing us over to Russia, there is no time to waste on formats that are illusory and ceremonial," wrote Tina Bokuchava on socialmedia.
