"Georgia is an independent country, a sovereign state, and Georgia alone will decide with whom to have relations – this is not the business of the 'Helsinki Commission,'" said Kakha Kaladze, Secretary-General of Georgian Dream, in response to a statement made by members of the Helsinki Commission regarding the Anaklia Port project.
"Georgia is an independent country, a sovereign state, and it will decide for itself with whom to have relations, what kind of relations to maintain, and what trade agreements to establish. This is not the concern of the 'Helsinki Commission.' We are an independent country, and we will decide on our own who to engage with and under what terms," Kaladze stated.
He further emphasized that Georgian Dream’s top priority is the Georgian people.
"For us, the most important thing is the Georgian people, our homeland, and our national interests. Everything else—relations with other countries—comes after that. What is unclear about this?
We are closely monitoring developments and waiting to see how events unfold. To be honest, due to the policies and revelations made by Georgian Dream, this small country has shown the entire world what the 'Deep State' is and who is behind it.
Three years ago, when we spoke about this, you mocked us and did not believe it. Now, when Trump became President, he openly talks about it. He clearly states that his main goal is to defeat the 'Deep State'.
We support him in this endeavor and hope he succeeds in defeating the 'Deep State'—though it will not be an easy task," Kaladze remarked.
On Trump’s Priorities – Ending the War in Ukraine and Defeating the "Deep State"Kaladze also noted that according to Trump, his priorities are ending the war in Ukraine and defeating the 'Deep State,' neither of which has happened yet.
"The fact is that Trump is fighting against the 'Deep State'—this is not something we just made up!
We were discussing the 'Deep State' three years before the rest of the world started to acknowledge it. Back then, when we spoke about it, you laughed at us. But once Trump became president, the entire world learned that such a thing exists—a shadow force that controls the world.
Now everything has become clear. What was and still is Trump’s main objective? He has repeatedly stated that his priorities are ending the war in Ukraine and defeating the 'Deep State'.
Neither has happened yet. So, let’s wait and see how events unfold!"
"Georgian Dream" Pursues a Pragmatic PolicyKaladze also emphasized that Georgian Dream follows a pragmatic foreign policy that prioritizes national interests above all else.
"What is our priority? Where do we stand?
We act in the best interests of our country. For us, neither America nor Europe is the most important thing—our homeland, our people, and our country come first." Kaladze concluded.
