Tina Bokuchava explains why National Movement left “resistance platform” formed around Salome Zurabishvili

According to Tina Bokuchava, the chairwoman of the National Movement, after the statement made by the fifth president Salome Zurabishvili at the March 31 rally, the party decided to leave the “platform of resistance.”

In particular, as Bokuchava stated on PalitraNews, Salome Zurabishvili failed to say anything new during her speech at the March 31 rally.

In addition, Bokuchava notes that there was dissatisfaction with Salome Zurabishvili for not pardoning the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili.

“At the March 31 rally, which was an important rally due to the historicity of this date, however, after the statement we heard from Salome Zurabishvili, which, in my opinion, did not bring any news to the public, we said that we would not participate in this format.

There was the greatest distance between the National Movement and Salome Zurabishvili. Why? Because one pro-European president, who tried to strengthen the European flag in Georgia when the Russians were taking it away from us, did not pardon the other president. Salome Zurabishvili had no explanation for this, it was a decision based on personal taste. This was her exclusive right, which no one could dispute,” Bokuchava said.

When asked if Salome Zurabishvili makes a statement within the framework of the platform, would the statement involve the National Movement as well, Bokuchava replied, “No, because we are not there.”

In addition, Bokuchava spoke about the temporary investigative commission of the parliament and the visit of the leader of Gakharia for Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, to it.

According to Bokuchava, on the platform around Salome Zurabishvili, the four opposition parties unanimously agreed that not a single opposition politician would appear in the commission, which Giorgi Gakharia violated, “thus emphasizing that there is no coordination.”

“For almost 5 months, I was part of the format that gathered around Salome Zurabishvili. In the internal political part, the only decision that the political parties agreed on was that no politician would come to the Tsulukiani treason commission, and Giorgi Gakharia violated this agreement. This also emphasized that in reality there is no coordination,” Bokuchava said.

According to Bokuchava, whether the leader of the Gakharia for Georgia party is a real opposition or not is shown by his actions.

Bokuchava evaluated Gakharia’s statements at the commission and stated that he could not answer the main question.

“Some people assessed that he appeared precisely because he was afraid of being arrested later. The only question that really existed was “who gave the order on June 20.” "First he said that yes, I gave the order, but when he got there [to the temporary investigative commission of parliament], he said that yes, I gave the order for the water cannon and gas, but not for the bullets. What kind of answer was that? He himself denied what he had been claiming for so many years to create the image of a 'superpower' minister," Bokuchava said.
