Irakli Gharibashvili: No position is eternal - Georgian Dream has finally formed into a united and strong political force - I have fulfilled the honorable mission that was entrusted to me, and I no longer see the need to stay in politics

Today, the Georgian Dream has finally formed as a united and strong political force. I have repeatedly said that no position is eternal. No position has been my goal in itself - I remain a loyal soldier of both Bidzina Ivanishvili's team and our country, - Irakli Gharibashvili, former chairman of the Georgian Dream, stated at a briefing.

As Irakli Gharibashvili noted, today the Georgian Dream has finally formed as a united and strong political force.

“I have repeatedly said that no position is eternal. No position has ever been my goal. For me, this has always been an opportunity to serve our homeland and people. It was like that at the end of December 2015, when I left the position of Prime Minister at the age of 33 and left politics. It was like that when I returned to politics in 2019 and continued the work we started together with the Georgian Dream team. It was like that last year, when I left the position of Prime Minister for the second time. It is like that today, when I am leaving politics for the second time.

Today, Georgian Dream has finally formed into a united and strong political force. Naturally, the founder of the party, Honorary Chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili, who is the guarantor of peace and stability in the country, has a special role in this. He was able to consolidate the team at the most critical moment, maintaining unity. Under his leadership, the Georgian Dream averted great dangers for the country and society. He saved the country. He brought tangible progress and development in all areas. I believe that the honorable mission that was assigned to me by the founder and team of our party when I returned to politics, first as the Minister of Defense, then as the Prime Minister for the second time, and finally as the Chairman of the party, can be said to have already been fulfilled.

Now I no longer see the need to remain as the Chairman of the party and in politics in general. Therefore, I have decided to leave the position of the Chairman of the Georgian Dream and leave politics. I will continue to serve my country from a different position. Of course, I am loyal to the values of the victory of October 1, 2012, the main achievement, to which all my political activities are connected. I remain a loyal soldier of both Bidzina Ivanishvili's team and our country. I would like to express my gratitude to Ivanishvili, who gave me the unique opportunity to serve Georgia from the highest political position in the country. I wish success to the future chairman of the party and the great team,” Garibashvili noted.

Garibashvili said that he believes that the Georgian Dream will ensure the country’s European future.

“I believe that the Georgian Dream will be the political force that, under Ivanishvili’s leadership, will lead the country to peace and will defend national interests to the end. At the same time, it will ensure the European future of our country. It will create the appropriate real conditions for the peaceful restoration of territorial integrity and stable development,” Garibashvili noted.
