Parliamentary elections will definitely be called, because the regime cannot continue to govern the country in a situation where the parliament is not only illegitimate, but also incompetent, - said one of the leaders of Lelo-Strong Georgia, Salome Samadashvili.

As she noted in the Free Studio program of Palitraews, Russia does not need a "lame government".

"Even Russia does not like this situation of Georgian Dream. Russia has its own tasks, among which is to remove the entry about the European Union and NATO from the constitution. Ivanishvili's "lame government", as it is today, does not suit Russia either. Therefore, Ivanishvili will not serve Russia well either," Samadashvili said.

The opposition politician also spoke about the resolution adopted by the European People's Party on Georgia and noted that there is a strong consensus in the European Union that Georgian Dream is a government that serves Russia.

According to Samadashvili, without new elections, the release of those detained during the protests, and a new political reality, Georgia cannot expect anything good.

“Georgia is not a member of the European People’s Party, but the EPP has the greatest influence on European politics. Let us remind you that this party is represented by the German Chancellor, as well as the head of another important country, of course, their position is of decisive importance.

There is a strong consensus in the European Union that this is a government that serves Russia. A government that contradicts the Georgian Constitution, the will of the Georgian people. Without new elections, the release of political prisoners and a new political reality, nothing good awaits Georgia, except the abolition of the cooperation formats that we have with the European Union. The best reflection of this common European spirit is the fact that the Council of Europe did not recognize the mandates of the representatives of the illegitimate parliament. That says it all. No one is going to have relations with this government. Therefore, we need parliamentary elections quickly, because time is running out and Georgia is losing its unique opportunities,” Samadashvili said.

As for the content of the resolution itself and the recommendations, Samadashvili states that if the political situation in the country does not change, by the end of the year the entire system will be under severe sanctions, both from overseas and the European Union.

“Sanctions will be imposed, this is an irreversible process. We see that the illegitimate government has once again tried to deceive people, as if it has the resources to reset relations with Washington, instead of which the MEGOBARI Act will be approved next week. This will be the first time that the US will establish a sanctions policy at the legislative level. There is full bipartisan support for this issue, both in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Very soon the US will have a legislative framework. The list does not only include political figures, but also business representatives who are engaged in business. US sanctions leave no other option but for the European Union to introduce similar sanctions.

If the political situation in the country does not change, I assume that by the end of the year the entire system will be under heavy sanctions, both from overseas and from the European Union," Samadashvili said.
