Tbilisi City Court sentences Giorgi Chikvaidze and Irakli Papiashvili to 9 and 8 years in prison for embezzlement of a large amount of funds

Tbilisi City Court found Giorgi Chikvaidze and Irakli Papiashvili guilty of embezzlement of a large amount of funds and sentenced them to 9 and 8 years in prison, respectively. Accordingly, Irakli Papiashvili was detained in the courtroom.

“You are a murderer,” Chikvaidze’s mother said to judge Iza Kelenjeridze after the verdict was announced.

Defendant Giorgi Chikvaidze joined the trial during the announcement of the verdict. Irakli Papiashvili was present at the hearing from the very beginning.

For information, the investigation into the fraudulent misappropriation of a large amount of money belonging to the company was launched based on a complaint from the company Elt Building.

Specifically, the defendants, Giorgi Chikvaidze and Irakli Papiashvili's company - Ramses Georgian Yachting Platform, were supposed to deliver a yacht to Elt Building LLC. A yacht purchase agreement was signed between them for 1,155,019 GEL. A yacht lease agreement was also signed between the parties.
