As far as I know, discussions are still ongoing regarding another 250–300 individuals potentially being added to the list of sanctioned persons under the "MEGOBARI Act." Those whose names aren’t on the list yet still have a chance to distance themselves from the regime — said Giorgi Vashadze, leader of Strategy Aghmashenebeli, on PalitraNews’ program Daily Newsroom, responding to the "MEGOBARI Act."

According to him, after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the "MEGOBARI Act," Georgian Dream is in a difficult situation.

“What can they say in response to the MEGOBARI Act — more cynicism, more lies? Another round of madness? Or the same old trick: arrests and launching new criminal cases? You’ll see, they’ll come up with some crazy law. Bidzina Ivanishvili needs to come out and answer why he has dragged the country into this situation, and why the very first legislative act about Georgia in the U.S. is being adopted in a negative context.

Our fight has paid off — the U.S. stands with the Georgian people, and they do care about what is happening in Georgia. Georgian Dream is in a bad state, their leaders have gone into hiding, as they usually do. Yesterday, they avoided questions and put a woman in front to act as a shield. All the party leaders disappeared for 24 hours.

They’re doing all of this just to confuse the public. We are now on the offensive, and we must apply maximum pressure on Georgian Dream,” said Giorgi Vashadze.

He also responded to statements made by members of the ruling party regarding the MEGOBARI Act. According to him, the ruling party is now focused solely on retaining power.

“This process doesn’t make me happy. I want Georgia to be on a path of development, but these people are lying when they equate patriotism with love for Ivanishvili.

They only want to stay in power and leave the country behind.

Gomelauri admitted that living under sanctions is difficult — he said he’s ‘been through even worse conditions.’ This is a very tough issue for Georgian Dream. The leaders are being careful not to make strong statements and are letting ‘clowns’ do the talking.

For Gomelauri, who comes first — Ivanishvili or the homeland? Of course, Ivanishvili. For Kobakhidze, what comes first — power or the homeland? Clearly, power and Ivanishvili,” said Giorgi Vashadze.

He also commented on the Georgian Dream congress held on May 7, during which Irakli Kobakhidze was re-elected as party chairman and new political council members were confirmed. Vashadze compared the event to a funeral.

“Everyone sitting behind the front row had a look on their faces like, ‘I wish I weren’t here’ — that was written all over their faces, except for a few people who were thinking about how to protect their wealth.

It was like a funeral ceremony. If you’re calling yourself a ruling party, your congress shouldn’t be over in just 17 minutes.

As for why Bidzina Ivanishvili didn’t speak at the event — the answer is, he had nothing to say. The ‘MEGOBARI Act’ will be his political burial,” said Giorgi Vashadze.

Vashadze also addressed personnel changes in state-owned companies. He said one clan has simply replaced another.

“In the past 12–13 years, among the six Eastern Partnership countries, we are ranked last in terms of energy reform. Energy is the main target of Georgian Dream’s looting. What’s happening now is the redistribution of power among groups and clans. One clan is trying to squeeze out another and make more money.

As for the railway, it’s a disaster — hundreds of millions have been embezzled, and the infrastructure is not developing.

The new railway junctions that were supposed to be built are in a terrible state. In places where the bypass railway should have gone, apartment buildings are being constructed instead. This is daylight robbery.

I ask railway workers — have your working conditions improved or worsened in the past 10 years? Is your salary enough to buy the same things when you walk into a store? Where is all the money going?

We are a key corridor, and by now Georgia should have a two-lane railway and be the main transit hub.

One clan replaced another — one robbed us, now the next will continue the robbery,” said Giorgi Vashadze.
