We are very curious as to why it happens that the pathos, mood, attitude, and messages of our and the current US administrations coincide one after another, and despite this, not a single word has been said about Georgia by the newly elected US president and administration?! - said the leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze.
As he noted regarding the open letter of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, it is very good and even something to be proud of that “Georgia and its government can speak in such a bold tone.”
“It is very good, among other things, it can even be a source of pride that my, your, our country can speak in such a bold tone today. We are very interested in why it happens that the pathos, mood, attitude, messages of our and the current US administration, voiced by them and much earlier by us, coincide with each other, and despite this, not a single word has been said about Georgia by the newly elected US president and administration.
There are reasons for this. This must be explained by the country, the leaders of that country, who still have Biden’s criminal decisions in force, the decisions made as a result of his administration’s criminal attitude towards Georgia and its elected government representatives. Until this is explained, these decisions will not be changed, until then, the whole world, not only in Georgia, to whom this voice reaches, will ask the question: why is it that despite the absolute coincidence of positions, not even one supporting statement was made.
As for the MEGOBAR Act, it is a moss for the Georgian opposition. On the one hand, the new administration is fighting the “deep state”, on the other hand, they are adopting some acts. If it is ever put into action, we can’t even talk about defeating “deep state”, the opposite will happen. This act is a moss for the embattled opposition, but the silence that comes from the US side is at least uncertainty, including in the fight against the “deep state”.
We are not begging anyone for anything with our heads bowed or on our knees, but we are loudly and boldly telling them in an appropriate tone that we are right in our relations with our own society and then with all our partners. When we receive unfair treatment from the other side, at least in the form of silence, today we can speak out boldly about this and we are talking about it, first behind the scenes, then publicly," said Mamuka Mdinaradze.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze sent an open letter to the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, and Vice President of the United States of America, J.D. Vance. As Kobakhidze notes, he addressed the US with a letter regarding Georgian-American relations several weeks ago, but has not received a response so far.
In his letter, Kobakhidze discusses the sanctions imposed on Georgian government officials and, addressing the US administration, says that it is perplexing that they are harshly criticizing Biden’s decisions, but have not yet reversed any of his criminal decisions.
In addition, according to Kobakhidze, there is a striking alignment of values of the Georgian government and the US administration.
He also spoke about the “deep state”. He hopes that the US administration will actually be able to defeat the “deep state”, “which will undoubtedly affect the reset of Georgian-American relations and the restoration of strategic partnership”.
