In both cases [Marco Rubio's statement] and in the other case [Donald Trump's statement], the reactions of the vast majority of the population are exaggerated, - said the leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze.

According to him, neither the statements of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio should be a matter of concern for the Georgian society, nor should the usual congratulations and objective attitude of US President Donald Trump be overestimated.

“There was concern about the interpretation of Rubio’s letter – why did this man say that? And there was something about Trump’s usual congratulatory speech, his objective attitude. I’ll be honest, there’s nothing to admire in the fact that a person objectively tells the truth, we are delighted with the situation and wow, how cool that is – this is also exaggerated. I may break the hearts of many of our supporters, but this may also be exaggerated, the leader of such a great state, a friendly country congratulated us and said objective things. Before, the interpretation of Rubio’s words, that he [congratulated] the Georgian people, what is there to be afraid of? In the previous days, [Marco Rubio] gave a certain answer to a journalist in a general context and on the one hand there was panic, on the other hand there was some joy – these are exaggerated reactions,” Mamuka Mdinaradze noted.

According to him, the ruling team is trying to show the public an objective reality, where the new US administration has not openly expressed its attitude towards Georgia for so long. According to Mdinaradze, our country has already had its say in world geopolitics and Georgia is not a country that will be silenced.

"We have one sad reality: objectively, we are trying to show our supporters, and the Georgian society in general, the truth. In fact, the bad thing is that for so long they have been using the argument that they were busy. We are not a country to be ignored. A country that has already said its word in world geopolitics. We are not an easy country either. If a war had started here, a lot of things could have changed here in the region. If we had agreed to those demands, whatever demands were being made from different sides behind the scenes or openly - you remember openly, you also remember the hints behind the scenes, a lot could have changed in relation to Russia: it could have become weaker, things could have become more difficult, but what would have happened to us? - We kept saying, why are you dragging us into a war where I will die and you may get some benefit, or maybe not," Mamuka Mdinaradze said.

In addition, Mamuka Mdinaradze spoke about the statement of the US Embassy regarding the statement echoing the statement of the Honorary Chairman of the Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

"They imposed sanctions. The new administration is not doing anything new. The status quo remains. The ambassador of the country that has sanctioned this person is requesting a meeting with the sanctioned person, Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili.

We know that of course, Bidzina Ivanishvili will not respond in this way, that no one can intimidate him with blackmail, because objectively this is a person who cannot be intimidated by anything, not even sanctions, years of experience have shown us this very well. Blackmail, threats and similar issues do not affect this person, nor do they affect his Georgianness, nor do they diminish his patriotism. We know that he will not say anything under the influence of blackmail, but they will definitely talk about it like this,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze.
