The US Embassy's actions are similar to those of the previous administration, - Mikheil Kavelashvili stated in an interview with the Public Broadcaster.

Kavelashvili responded to a question regarding US President Donald Trump's Independence Day greetings and Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statement.

In particular, the presenter asked Kavelashvili: "What could be the reason why the US Embassy is not publishing this specific Trump greeting, when Rubio's greetings were published. What could be the reason for positioning it this way?"

According to Kavelashvili, the embassy is trying to speculate - that "this letter has become suspicious, it is not responding, it is not publishing."

He also cited Senator Steve Daines’ meetings with both the opposition and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze as another example, and stated that the embassy “publishes footage of the meeting with so-called the opposition and gives it greater importance,” which, in his assessment, is “ugly.”

"This is another issue. Here, perhaps, not only this letter, the embassy's approaches and attitude... Then they published it, a letter to Bidzina Ivanishvili that they allegedly send on May 22, [host's remark: it was made public a week late, 24 hours after the congratulatory speech], with a delay, to cover up this letter and some speculation... This is a continuation of what I talked about, that there are forces and Trump's own statement, when he was victorious and came to power and he himself stated that he would defeat the "Deep State" and if he cannot defeat the "Deep State", America will be defeated... These forces exist, it may be a joke for someone, but we see these battles, right? - Messages with different interpretations. The administration's view is different, let's say, the message of some congressman or senator is absolutely different. This is reality, we are monitoring this, we see this. Unfortunately, the embassy's actions resemble actions under the previous administration and are a reflection of it. They can't behave exactly like they did then, in terms of direct interference, threats, and, so to speak, pressure on society, they can't behave like that anymore. Of course, they have completely different views. I would say that, more accurately, this stream is slowly narrowing and, probably, sooner or later, they will submit, when the power of the Trump administration becomes stronger. I am sure that any embassy, ​​and especially embassies, will 100 percent submit to the views of the administration. Today we see that speculation is clearly going on, and what you mentioned, that this letter became suspicious and they don't check it, don't respond, don't publish it, you remember today too. The senator met with the Prime Minister of Georgia and the embassy publishes footage of the meeting with the so-called opposition and gives it greater importance. This is, I will say it bluntly, but we cannot escape the assessment of this, this is ugliness, this is abnormal, because the embassy represents a country and there is a government in that country and it establishes relations with the government. A senator from your country comes and meets the Prime Minister and the embassy does not portray it as the main topic and speculates as if no one recognizes it, there are other messages here, to arouse doubts even more strongly," Kavelashvili said.
