It is a false argument when colleagues say that if someone participates in the local elections, they will legitimize the government. No one will legitimize it - the democratic legitimacy of Bidzina Ivanishvili's government is dead, - one of the leaders of Strong Georgia, Salome Samadashvili, stated on PalitraNews.
According to Samadashvili, she does not see that the opposition's non-participation in the local elections will create any serious problems for Georgian Dream.
"For such a regime, it doesn't matter if the elections are held in a single-party system. They will say that they didn't participate and that's the result. The main thing for them is that there is minimal representation, that the minimum number of people participate, that they achieve their minimal results. If they don't have competition, all the better.
I don't see that the opposition's non-participation in the local elections will cause them any serious problems. It seems that there won't be a complete boycott, someone will participate. I can't talk about the elections that haven't been held, but I know that the parliamentary elections that were held did not receive democratic legitimacy, so it's a very false argument when colleagues say that if someone participates in the local elections, they will legitimize the government. No one can legitimize it, something that is dead cannot die again.
Local elections are held in accordance with the Constitution and will be held in all cases. As for the parliamentary elections, it is already a fact that they have no legitimacy. The democratic legitimacy of Bidzina Ivanishvili's government is in a dead state.
If we choose the points where the government is weak, where it has already lost the elections, if we unite and hit this government with a united force, we may cause them greater damage than by not participating in this process at all," said Salome Samadashvili.
