"The light of democracy is fading in Georgia; this country has become a satellite of Moscow. Silence and simply standing by is a crime," stated European Parliament member Małgorzata Gosiewska during a session of the European Parliament.

"The light of democracy is fading in Georgia. Under the dominance of 'Georgian Dream,' the government brutally suppresses pro-democratic protests and wages an open war against the free media. Mzia Amaghlobeli, a respected journalist, has been imprisoned solely for having the courage to protest.

In her dramatic appeal, she said: 'I will not accept the regime’s agenda; I am starting a hunger strike. Freedom is more precious than life.' Freedom is more precious than life—former President Mikheil Saakashvili has been a political prisoner of Ivanishvili’s regime for nearly four years.

'Georgian Dream,' controlled behind the scenes by Bidzina Ivanishvili, has reversed Georgia’s European path. This country, which once aspired to join the EU and NATO, has become a satellite of Moscow.

We cannot simply stand by and watch. Georgia is fighting for democracy, freedom of speech, and a normal life. Supporting a dictatorship or surrendering to it is a crime. Silence and simply standing by is also a crime," Gosiewska declared.
