"Gakharia, who once demanded that I, though innocent, be imprisoned — because supposedly it helped maintain stability — is now, to me, a victim of this regime, and I express my solidarity with him.

I also express solidarity with Irakli Okruashvili, whose false testimony is the reason I am behind bars, because he has shown principle in the face of this occupation regime. Mamuka Khazaradze once carelessly asked why Saakashvili was being allowed to speak from prison. Now, he himself is behind bars, and I offer him my full human solidarity and recognize his courage for refusing to cooperate with the regime. Of course, I categorically demand his and other political prisoners’ immediate release."

This statement was made by Georgia’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, during a court hearing in which he participated remotely from the “Vivamedi” clinic.

Earlier, Saakashvili had addressed the ruling party, saying that Georgian Dream is dismantling everything achieved through the Rose Revolution.

"They announced the abolition of unified national exams — which means full-scale corruption will return to the education system, something they’ve already partly brought back. Yet this was one of the main achievements of the Rose Revolution. In short, they are destroying everything related to its legacy, and this destruction is becoming catastrophic. But the greatest destruction is always followed by the greatest rebuilding. I say this as the leader of the Rose Revolution, and we are undoubtedly entering a new stage of continuing that revolution, because corruption and crime still need to be eradicated, because Georgia still needs to be brought back to the international stage — all of our international connections are broken — and we are ready for that.*

Both internal and external conditions are in place. Due to the ongoing wars — in Ukraine, between Iran and Israel, where Israel and the U.S. have prevailed — the time for a major political reckoning is coming. The era of tyrants and dictators is coming to an end.

In Georgia today, the process is completely twisted — the country is being ruled by Ivanishvili, who takes orders from his FSB handler... Judging by everything — historical logic, public sentiment — this regime cannot last long. Major changes are ahead. Georgia will surely restore its territorial integrity, displaced persons will return home, the empire will be punished, and we will see the unification of the Caucasus, in which Georgians have always played a major historical role — we can recall Zviad Gamsakhurdia and, in scholarship, Arnold Chikobava," Saakashvili said.

He also stated that he has majority support in Georgia and addressed his supporters, stressing the importance of unity.

"Now is no time for division, because they are destroying everyone one by one," he said, expressing support for recently arrested political leaders.

"Gakharia, who once demanded my imprisonment despite my innocence, believing it contributed to stability — is now, to me, a victim of the same regime, and I stand in solidarity with him. I also stand with Irakli Okruashvili, who gave false testimony that landed me behind bars, because he has shown integrity against this occupation regime. Mamuka Khazaradze once remarked, 'Why are they letting Saakashvili speak from prison?' Now he too is behind bars, and I offer him full human solidarity, recognizing his courage in not cooperating with the regime. I categorically demand his and all other political prisoners’ immediate release."

"I deeply appreciate that they are not cooperating with the illegitimate parliament. I am deeply saddened that Nika Melia, Khazaradze, Japaridze, and the other Japaridze are in prison. Many Justice House projects in Ukraine were developed with Giorgi Vashadze’s participation — and now such a person is in prison? And who is putting him there? Total nobodies," Saakashvili stated.

He also spoke about what he believes he can contribute to the country:

"Of course, I understand my great historical responsibility. I know I can play a decisive role in Georgia’s reunification, revival, and the great unification of the Caucasus. I can do this because of my historical experience, my reputation, and my close relationships with nearly all the regional leaders — for example, Pashinyan is now repeating the anti-corruption reforms we carried out back then. I feel I can do this — but only with the Georgian people and with all political actors. I accept this responsibility. But I also understand that strength lies in unity, and no one can do it alone. Still, I will dedicate all my strength to moving forward in this direction as soon as possible," said Saakashvili.
