A group of diplomats has issued a statement.

The statement notes that the changes envisaged in the ongoing reorganization process at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are directed against the diplomats who signed the November 28 statement and are aimed at permanently halting the country's accession process to European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

"On April 29, 2025, the reorganization process began at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. According to the information provided, the planned structural changes involve a "fundamental reform" of the central staff of the Ministry and diplomatic missions abroad."

We believe that the changes envisaged in the reorganization process - the downgrading of EU and NATO integration and other strategic directions, the abolition of the NATO and EU Information Center, and the premature recall of employees from diplomatic missions abroad - are directed against the diplomats who signed the November 28 statement and are aimed at the final suspension of the country's accession process to European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

After the end of the Cold War, the historical experience of Eastern European countries shows that for a state with Georgia's geographical location and given circumstances, accession to the EU and NATO is the only guarantee of strengthening national security, peace and prosperity. The window of opportunity caused by the ongoing changes in the international and regional security environment is a unique chance for our country to achieve tangible results on the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. In the current situation, Georgia's distance from Western institutions leaves the country completely vulnerable to existing and potential security challenges. Moreover, such an approach directly contradicts Georgia's national interests and the requirements of Article 78 of the Constitution.

We, Georgian diplomats, remain committed to the Constitution of Georgia, national interests and the European and Euro-Atlantic future of this country!”, - reads the statement.

In addition, it is noted that the statement is open and any serving diplomat can join it.
