I don’t think we should need a hunger strike to agree on our positions with each other, said Paata Manjgaladze, one of the leaders of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli,” in response to the statement by Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” who said she would end her hunger strike if the opposition agreed not to participate in the elections.

As Paata Manjgaladze told reporters at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue, Elene Khoshtaria put herself and her health on the line by starting a hunger strike, and she is a fighter.

“She put her health and herself on the line. I won’t evaluate this statement. Elene is a fighter, a hero, and her word truly deserves respect. The rest is politics, and in politics decisions are made differently. I don’t think we should need a hunger strike to agree on our positions with each other. It’s unfortunate that we need to use this form to find common ground,” said Manjgaladze.

He also did not rule out the possibility that the government would bring additional charges against opposition political party leaders.

“Anything can be expected from the regime. I think unity is the best key. We must stand together in protest, in the resistance movement. Whatever we do, we must do it together everywhere. What benefits Ivanishvili is for half of us to boycott and half to go to the elections, but neither the boycott nor the elections succeed. That is Ivanishvili’s plan. Now, with our unity, we somehow need to break this plan,” said Manjgaladze.
