8 opposition parties issue joint statement refusing to participate in local self-government elections. The corresponding statement was read out in front of the parliament by the leader of the Coalition for Change Elene Khoshtaria on behalf of the opposition parties.
The following parties join the statement: Freedom Square; Droa; Girchi-More Freedom; United National Movement; Strategy Builder; European Georgia; "Akhali; Federalists.
The joint statement states that in the current reality, participation in the election process will not serve the interests of citizens and will only "create a facade of legitimacy for the illegal Russian regime".
The 8 opposition parties declare that the path to victory "runs through complete non-cooperation with the regime" and they continue the common national resistance together with the citizens of Georgia.
"We, the pro-Western political parties and groups of Georgia, whose goal is to completely dismantle Ivanishvili's Russian regime, protect Georgia's independence and sovereignty, establish European-style democratic governance, create a safe environment and the opportunity for a decent life for our citizens, and integrate our country with the European Union and NATO, jointly declare:
We refuse to participate in the so-called local self-government elections, because we believe that in the current reality, participation in this process will not serve the interests of our citizens, and will only create a facade of legitimacy for the illegal Russian regime;
We realize the need for joint action and declare that we will do everything possible to accelerate the end of the undemocratic, oligarchic system with our principled, uncompromising struggle and work.
We believe that the path to victory lies in complete non-cooperation with the regime. Together with the citizens of Georgia, we continue to work for a common national Resistance.
