Former head of the Co-Investment Fund, Giorgi Bachiashvili, has released a letter from Gldani prison, describing the details of the violence against him.

As Giorgi Bachiashvili states, the physical attack on him took place on July 11.

According to him, on July 8, initially, the head of the N8 institution, Davit Gogoberishvili, summoned him and advised him to open all his bank accounts, cryptocurrency transactions, and account addresses for Bidzina Ivanishvili. On July 11, in the evening, an unknown person entered his cell and physically assaulted him.

“On July 8, 2025, at 9:00 PM, I was summoned by the head of the N8 institution, Davit Gogoberishvili, who introduced himself to me in a friendly manner and advised me several times to open all bank accounts, crypto currency turnovers and account addresses for Bidzina Ivanishvili. He was interested in how I would technically manage to do all this. I replied that under these conditions, when my property and that of my family are being hunted, and I myself am imprisoned, in violation of all rights, I did not consider it appropriate, to which I received the following response from Davit: “Giorgi, you are not in a position to set conditions, you know that all kinds of people are in prison, both “crazy” and less “crazy”. The conversation was in a friendly tone and at that moment I did not perceive it as a threat.

On July 11, at 7:00 PM, the door to my cell (where I had been alone for the past week, under video surveillance, there are 2 video cameras in the cell, I know that the video surveillance is working and they are watching me 24 hours a day) opened and a person I did not know (tall, athletic, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, sports shoes) entered. He did not tell me who he was, I asked his identity, to which he aggressively replied that only he asked questions, I told him that this kind of conversation could not take place (I understood that this person was sent to me for provocation). After this, he began to verbally abuse and swear. I asked him to stop swearing, after which he immediately started fighting. He punched me, wrestled me, and bit me on the shoulder until I bled. During the fight, Archil, the day supervisor of the fifth “E” block, opened the window, at which point the fight stopped, but this person told Archil to close the window, which to my surprise he immediately obeyed and closed. Then, the fight continued again, there was a glass tea cup in the cell (it didn’t belong to me, I found this cup in the cell, most likely from another prisoner), which he picked up and threw at my head, after which I fell to my knees and momentarily lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, this person continued to beat me and tried to throw the glass shards at my throat and face, but he managed to inflict a wound on my right wrist, and with his other hand he punched me in the face.

He made me bang my head against the wall several times. I asked him to calm down and leave me alone. After a few minutes, Archil opened the door and asked this person to come out of the cell and they left together. There was a pool of blood in the cell, the walls were also covered in blood, I asked to meet with the prison warden. After about 10 minutes, the prison warden came to me and took me to the surgeon on duty.

The prison warden told me that this person was a convict (he did not give his name/surname) and that he had been let in (for the purpose of accommodation) by his order and that he did not know if he would fight. However, everything was already clear to me, because this was the execution of the threatening message.

The surgeon treated my wounds and stitches, during which I lost consciousness again, my blood pressure rose and I felt sick. I asked to call my lawyer and the public defender, but they did not. Then I asked to be transferred to the Vivamedi clinic. They called an ambulance and took me to Vivamedi”, reads the letter.

I underwent tests at Vivamedi (a head CT scan, blood tests, I needed 3 stitches on my head, I had multiple lacerations, 1 stitch on my right wrist, a bite on my left arm (they treated it), my lower lip was torn on the inside, but they didn’t stitch it up (there was also significant swelling in my right face, eye and cheek area), and I also had bruises in my throat, tailbone, and back.

I had a headache, nausea, ringing in my ears, and dizziness.

I asked to stay in the hospital, but they refused. I couldn’t get out of bed, I was screaming at the top of my voice and asking to call the phone. The escort service members had cameras on. They grabbed me and forcibly put me in a police car, and took me back to facility No. 8, to another cell.

This happened at 03:00. At about 03:30, two female investigators came to me and asked me to take off my bloody clothes and give a statement, but I refused to give a statement without a lawyer. I again asked to call my lawyers and the Public Defender, but to no avail.

On the morning of July 12, I refused to have breakfast and dinner, because I had symptoms consistent with a concussion. I asked to see a doctor and be taken to a hospital.

At about 16:00, I was taken to facility No. 18. and only after 18:00 was I able to call the Public Defender's Office, only after I declared a hunger strike. There was a video camera in my cell, and in the corridor and everything should be recorded, how that person was brought to me and where he was taken. I connect my beating with the illegal forcible seizure of my property, intimidation. I demand to be alone in the cell under video surveillance. Otherwise, my life and health will be in danger. On Saturday evening, a representative of the Public Defender met with me, I explained everything in detail, I demand that the Public Defender's Office study the issue and respond. This is the result of coordinated action by the prison administration and criminals, therefore, they represent one criminal group. I declare that no matter how many criminals are sent to my cell and no matter who the violence is from, I will not be broken and they will not be able to intimidate me," reads the statement.
