Salome Samadashvili on Nino Datashvili: This is the use of psychiatry for political purposes, in the best tradition of Soviet Russia - probably this decision reminded us all of “Repentance,” and both repentance and serving punishment will be required of the creators of this in reality

“The use of psychiatry for political purposes, in the best tradition of Soviet Russia. Probably, this court decision reminded us all of ‘Repentance,’” wrote Salome Samadashvili, one of the leaders of “Lelo for Strong Georgia,” on social media, responding to the court’s decision to grant the prosecution’s request to place activist Nino Datashvili in a psychiatric institution involuntarily.

According to Samadashvili, years from now, there will be much to say in the genre of feature films about “Ivanishvili’s regime in Georgia” and the Georgian people’s struggle against this regime.

For reference, according to the organization “Partnership for Human Rights,” the prosecution requested a psychiatric evaluation for the detained activist Nino Datashvili, and the court granted this motion.

As stated by the organization, the prosecution is attempting to address this issue without any basis. According to Tamuna Gabodze, head of “Partnership for Human Rights,” the court authorized the involuntary transfer of Nino Datashvili to a psychiatric institution.

As a reminder, Nino Datashvili was detained on June 20 due to an incident that occurred at the Tbilisi City Court on June 9. She was charged under Article 353, Section 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to an attack on a public official during the performance of their duties. This offense carries a penalty of a fine or imprisonment ranging from 4 to 7 years.
