According to “Lelo,” the National Bureau of Enforcement has seized the party’s bank account

According to Irakli Kupradze, General Secretary of the “Lelo – Strong Georgia” coalition, the National Bureau of Enforcement has seized the official bank account of the “Lelo – Strong Georgia” coalition.

As Kupradze stated at a special briefing, “This is yet another reckless attempt to hinder the struggle of ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia.’”

“For the past five days, the illegitimate government of ‘Georgian Dream,’ the illegitimate Prime Minister Kobakhidze, the so-called Speaker of Parliament Papuashvili, and others have been carrying out a ridiculous, humorous attack on the ‘Strong Georgia’ coalition. Their propaganda narrative would be entirely unserious to us if it weren’t for the real obstacles they are creating in our activities. For five days, the Anti-Corruption Agency has been attacking the ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ coalition and its founder, Mamuka Khazaradze. We see that in this absurdity, nonsense, and clownish performance of a humorous genre, the so-called Prime Minister Kobakhidze has even dragged in the German Ambassador – the German Ambassador, whom ‘Georgian Dream’ has been actively fighting against for years. On July 1, 2025, they made a statement that the German Ambassador should be expelled from the country. This fabricated madness, this nonsense, which aligns with the political propaganda and incomprehensible strategies of ‘Georgian Dream,’ serves exactly two purposes: an attack on the German Ambassador and an attack on the pro-Western coalition that is actively fighting against Bidzina Ivanishvili today, which is the ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ coalition. In parallel with the Anti-Corruption Agency, we are now also hearing from the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the National Bureau of Enforcement. We received a letter today informing us that the official bank account of the ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ coalition has been seized. This is yet another reckless attempt to hinder our struggle and resistance, alongside the citizens of Georgia, to respond to Ivanishvili’s violent, Russian regime. Regardless of whether they seize the party’s or coalition’s account, regardless of whether they conduct propaganda against our coalition leader, Mamuka Khazaradze, and his family, we don’t even find it laughable because it is a manifestation of ‘Georgian Dream’s’ absurdity. They are afraid of their own weakness, where we can defeat them, win this struggle, and they have resorted to such ridiculous mechanisms.

They are afraid of their own weakness, where we can defeat them, win this struggle, and they have invented such laughable mechanisms as freezing and seizing the party’s accounts. This is the search for a new propaganda line. We are dealing with Mamuka Khazaradze, a former businessman who, for years, has paid hundreds of millions of lari to the Georgian budget and contributed hundreds of millions of lari to the lives of Georgian citizens. All the other nonsense coming from Irakli Kobakhidze or ‘Georgian Dream’s’ propaganda is laughable and humorous to us. However, the public must know that we are in a struggle and resistance, where ‘Georgian Dream’ is trying to tie our hands and feet, including through account seizures and the propaganda that the public should not believe. The truth is one – we are fighting the Russian regime, and in this struggle, we will surely prevail,” Kupradze stated.

Regarding the reason for the account seizure, Irakli Kupradze explained that the party is being accused of failing to pay a 130-lari court fee related to a lawsuit filed in the Gori court in 2022.

“In 2022, we had a court case in Gori – we sued the Kaspi election district, and they are accusing us of not paying the court fee, which is about 130 lari, even though, of course, we paid it. Otherwise, who would have accepted the lawsuit?” Kupradze stated.
