According to Levan Khabeishvili, Chairman of the Political Council of the “National Movement,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze’s statement regarding the case of Giorgi Bachiashvili, former General Director of the “Co-Investment Fund,” practically exposed Okhanashvili and Mdinaradze, confirming that they are “at each other’s throats” internally.
Khabeishvili stated that investigative agencies should take an interest in Kaladze’s remarks, as the mayor directly implicated Okhanashvili and Mdinaradze, claiming that “these people conducted this special operation together with the Russians.”
“The Mdinaradze and Kaladze ‘clan,’ meaning Okhanashvili and Mdinaradze, is in conflict with Kaladze, and it seems Kaladze let it slip that ‘we brought him back,’ while the State Security Service’s version is completely different. This further confirms that they are at each other’s throats internally. This wasn’t a slip of the tongue; he practically exposed the Okhanashvili-Mdinaradze version. The special operation was carried out by ‘GRU,’ the Russian special services, who did a favor for Ivanishvili by handing over his personal captive from Dubai. The idea that Mdinaradze and this agency conducted some operation is obviously a joke. The Russian special services handed over Bachiashvili, and today Kaladze practically confirmed this. Accordingly, the courts and investigative agencies should take an interest in this, as Tbilisi’s mayor directly pointed to Okhanashvili-Mdinaradze, stating that these people conducted this special operation with the Russians,” Khabeishvili declared.
For context, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated that there was no abduction or kidnapping in the case of Giorgi Bachiashvili, and his return from a foreign country was facilitated. Kaladze clarified that he sees no need for an investigation in this regard.
“Regarding his return, he was brought back from a foreign country. There was no abduction or kidnapping. What investigation should be launched? There are no facts to support it. He was simply brought back from a foreign country. [The abduction claim] is complete nonsense,” Kaladze noted.
