According to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, no one intended to arrest Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, but she herself wanted to go to prison.
According to Kobakhidze, Khoshtaria’s actions can be considered a form of political self-harm.
In addition, Kobakhidze notes that the country has a democracy and she can use this form as well.
“In general, self-harm is a common practice in politics, as well as in prison, including hunger strikes and various forms. They chose one form of self-harm, which is self-arrest. No one intended to arrest her. The court granted her bail. No, she wanted to go to prison. This is also one of the forms of self-harm.
