Ana Tsitlidze: What we are witnessing with former high-ranking officials is racketeering aimed at seizing the dirty money they stole - their own godfather, Bidzina Ivanishvili, has sacrificed them, and this is the end for all servants of the regime, a classic of the genre

Once the most influential figures - Gharibashvili, Liluashvili, Partskhaladze - who thought themselves kings, could not have imagined a few years ago that they would end up here. Today, their own godfather, Bidzina Ivanishvili, has sacrificed them. This is the end for all servants of the regime, said Ana Tsitlidze, one of the leaders of the United National Movement.

According to her, “just as Gharibashvili, Liluashvili, and Partskhaladze are now being devoured by the system they created and by Bidzina Ivanishvili, so too will Kobakhidze and Mdinardze be devoured.”

“We have repeatedly said that Gharibashvili and Liluashvili were under house arrest and had their passports confiscated. You also remember the brazen statements by Georgian Dream leaders accusing us of lying.

There is no rule of law in this country. What we are witnessing now with former high-ranking officials is Bidzina’s racketeering, aimed at seizing the dirty money these individuals stole - with Bidzina’s blessing - so that it can be brought back to Bidzina’s coffers.

If we had any kind of rule of law, or even something resembling it, after the Prosecutor’s Office announced that searches were conducted in connection with a criminal case, we would know what the criminal case is, what the basis for the searches was, and whether these individuals are detained, despite the State Security Service’s statement that they are not detained. The question then arises: if searches are conducted in a criminal case, why are these individuals not detained? This is a legal absurdity. Is there no risk of influencing witnesses or destroying evidence? Wouldn’t any other person have been detained? If these individuals are not detained, it confirms that this is Bidzina’s racketeering. This is a classic example of an oligarchy devouring its own children. Once the most influential - Gharibashvili, Liluashvili, Partskhaladze - who thought themselves kings, could not have imagined a few years ago that they would end up here. Today, their own godfather, Bidzina Ivanishvili, has sacrificed them. This is the end for all servants of the regime, a classic of the genre. Just as Gharibashvili, Liluashvili, and Partskhaladze are now being devoured by the system they created and by Bidzina Ivanishvili, so too will Kobakhidze and Mdinardze be devoured.

There is rampant corruption in the country, in which every link is involved, stealing tens of millions of dollars from Georgian citizens.

In an oligarchic regime, there are no citizens or citizens’ rights - only a single corrupt gang exists,” Tsitlidze stated.

For context, according to Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze, searches were conducted at the residences, homes, and personal belongings of eight individuals, including former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, former head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili, former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze, and related persons.

Gvarakidze also noted that various electronic devices, documentation, and a large amount of cash were seized.
