The Tbilisi City Court is expected to hold a hearing today regarding the imposition of preventive measures against the leaders of the “Lelo” party, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.
At today’s session, the court is also expected to set the date for the preliminary hearing for the other detained opposition politicians.
The Prosecutor’s Office will request that bail be applied as a preventive measure for Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.
For reference, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze have been charged under Article 318, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to the crime of sabotage.
In total, the General Prosecutor’s Office has charged eight politicians — Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Mamuka Khazaradze, Badri Japaridze, Zurab Japaridze, and Elene Khoshtaria.
Mikheil Saakashvili has been charged under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which concerns incitement to forcibly change the constitutional order of Georgia or overthrow the state government.
Zurab “Girchi” Japaridze and Giorgi Vashadze have been charged under Articles 318 (Part 1) and 319, which concern acts of sabotage and aiding hostile activities for a foreign state.
Elene Khoshtaria has been charged under Articles 318 (Part 1), 319, and 321¹ (Part 1), which refer to sabotage, providing material resources for such crimes, and aiding hostile activities for a foreign state.
Nika Gvaramia, Nikanor Melia, Mamuka Khazaradze, and Badri Japaridze have been charged under Article 318 (Part 1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which concerns the act of sabotage.
