Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the political party “Droa,” currently in detention, stated in a letter sent from prison that she will have no involvement in the so-called court process.
“When the investigators came into the prison yesterday, the bailiff approached, and I refused to leave. Then they came to my cell door, and I expelled them. They did not listen – I expelled them again. Then I turned my back and sent them to Putin,” Khoshtaria wrote.
She referred to the charges brought by the Prosecutor’s Office as “nonsense” and made clear that she refuses to have anyone represent her interests in court.
“As in all other cases, of course, I will have no involvement with the so-called court process in any form. I have two excellent lawyers, Shota Tutberidze and Ana Gakhikidze, who have been by my side throughout this time.
A lawyer exists, but there is no case. I will not recognize as a case the nonsense we heard yesterday. Especially given the number of arrests and the heavy workload on lawyers, I refuse to allow anyone to represent me in that building (the court).
Shota and Ana will speak on my behalf for all public questions. I thank them!
Yesterday, when the investigators entered the prison, the bailiff approached and I refused to leave. Then they came to my cell door, and I expelled them. They did not listen – I expelled them again. Then I turned my back and sent them to Putin.
To the end! Rustavi Women’s Prison,” Khoshtaria wrote.
For reference, the Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against eight politicians – Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Mamuka Khazaradze, Badri Japaridze, Zurab Japaridze, and Elene Khoshtaria. Specifically, Khoshtaria has been charged under Articles 318(1), 319, and 321 prima(1) of the Criminal Code, relating to sabotage, providing material resources for the alleged crimes, and assisting hostile activities for a foreign country.
