In the case concerning sabotage, aiding hostile activities, and incitement to overthrow the government, prosecutor Archil Tkeshelashvili stated that the prosecution is requesting bail in the amount of one million lari each for the leaders of “Strong Georgia – Lelo.”
According to the prosecutor, the case includes numerous pieces of evidence, including protocols of covert investigative actions and video recordings obtained on the basis of a court warrant.
“As you know, we have submitted a motion to the court to apply preventive measures against some of the defendants, namely Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze. We are requesting bail of one million lari each for these defendants.
As for the others, they are currently in penitentiary facilities, and we only petitioned the court to schedule a preliminary hearing for them, since the purposes and grounds for applying preventive measures to them have already been eliminated.
The case contains numerous pieces of evidence, including protocols and video materials obtained through covert investigative actions authorized by the court, as well as expert conclusions,” said Archil Tkeshelashvili.
In addition, the prosecutor stated that the individuals appearing in the covert recordings include Elene Khoshtaria, the leader of “Droa,” and Zurab Girchi Japaridze, the leader of “Girchi – More Freedom.”
According to Tkeshelashvili, Elene Khoshtaria and Zurab Japaridze, “acting on the orders of interested parties operating in Ukraine, were spreading false information with the aim of illegally changing the government.”
“The persons appearing in the covert recordings are Elene Khoshtaria and Zurab Girchi Japaridze, along with others. The recordings show that interest groups based in Ukraine were instructing them to collect and disseminate false information and false narratives — for example, that Georgia was violating international sanctions, receiving prohibited goods and imports, and that Georgia’s airspace was used by Russia to receive weapons and combat drones.
This information was false and fabricated, and they deliberately gathered and spread it. Their goal was to replace the lawfully elected government through illegal and criminal means and bring to power a government loyal to them,” the prosecutor said.
As a reminder, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has launched new criminal proceedings against Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Zurab Japaridze, Elene Khoshtaria, Mamuka Khazaradze, and Badri Japaridze.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the case concerns crimes committed against the state — specifically:
sabotage, aiding hostile activities of a foreign country, financing activities directed against Georgia’s constitutional order and national security foundations, and incitement to overthrow the constitutional order or governent of Georgia through violence.
