Prosecutor: The individuals featured in the covert recordings include Khoshtaria and Zurab Japaridze, among others — the discussion concerns interest groups operating in Ukraine who are instructing them to spread false information, claiming that Georgia is violating sanctions

According to prosecutor Archil Tkeshelashvili, the individuals featured in the covert recordings obtained through investigative actions include Elene Khoshtaria, leader of Droa, and Zurab “Girchi” Japaridze, leader of Girchi – More Freedom.

Tkeshelashvili stated that Elene Khoshtaria and Zurab Japaridze, “acting on the orders of interested parties operating in Ukraine, were spreading false information with the goal of illegally changing the government.”

“The individuals appearing in the covert recordings are Elene Khoshtaria and Zurab Girchi Japaridze, along with others. The recordings reveal that interest groups operating in Ukraine were instructing them to collect and spread false information and false narratives — such as claims that the Georgian state is violating sanctions, receiving prohibited imported goods, and that Georgia’s airspace was being used by Russia to receive weapons and combat drones.

This information was false and fabricated, and they deliberately gathered and disseminated it. Their goal was to replace the lawfully elected government through illegal and criminal means and bring to power a government loyal to them,” the prosecutor said.

As a reminder, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has initiated new criminal proceedings against Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Zurab Japaridze, Elene Khoshtaria, Mamuka Khazaradze, and Badri Japaridze.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the case concerns crimes committed against the state, specifically:

sabotage, aiding hostile activities of a foreign country, financing activities directed against Georgia’s constitutional order and national security foundations, and incitement to overthrow Georgia’s constitutional order or government through violence.
