A plea agreement has been signed with Olympic champion Zurab Zviadauri, who is accused of illegally purchasing, storing and carrying firearms and ammunition.
The above information was confirmed to InterpressNews by his lawyer, Magda Kotrikadze.
According to Kotrikadze, Zviadauri will leave the penitentiary in March.
"A plea agreement was signed between Zurab Zviadauri and the prosecution. This means that an agreement was reached on the sentence - about a month ago, we applied to the prosecutor's office with an application for plea bargain. The plea agreement was signed, the type and duration of the sentence was determined as 6 months in prison, as well as a suspended sentence for a period of 4 years, and a fine as an additional punishment.
The 6-month term will expire at the end of March and he will leave the penitentiary institution," said Magda Kotrikadze.
In addition, as Zviadauri's lawyer noted, the plea agreement was signed on November 12.
For information, Zurab Zviadauri was detained by law enforcement officers on September 16, 2025. He was charged under Article 236, Part 3 and Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which involves the illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
