“‘The 'Georgian Dream' strike again in their attack on Georgian democracy,” – this is how Member of the UK Parliament James McCleary responds to the statement of the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, according to which one of the planned amendments to the Electoral Code will allow citizens abroad to vote in parliamentary elections only on the territory of Georgia, similar to local self-government elections.
“They started by restricting media freedom, then banned opposition parties and are now removing the vote from Georgians living abroad to cement their rule. The UK must sanction Ivanishvili and his cronies now,” James McCleary wrote on X.
