According to the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgian emigrants have already transferred more than 2 billion 500 million dollars to Georgia this year.
As stated in a letter posted on Saakashvili’s Facebook page, part of this money ends up in the government’s pockets, and now the government is taking away even their right to vote.
“This year, Georgians have already transferred more than 2 billion 500 million dollars to Georgia. Part of this money, of course, ends up in the government’s pockets, and now this government has taken away their right to vote. I am running out of cultural words to respond to this,” Saakashvili wrote on the social network.
For information, the Georgian Dream is working on a new Election Code. As stated by the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, the Code will be completely revised, and with one of the amendments, similar to local self-government elections, citizens will be able to vote in the Georgian parliamentary elections only within the state borders of Georgia.
