Gia Khukhashvili: If it comes to the ‘scapegoat bucket,’ the one at risk isn’t Irakli Garibashvili, but Irakli Kobakhidze! At some point, Ivanishvili has to ‘wash’ Kobakhidze one day

“Apologies, but instead of trying to prove that ‘Camite’ wasn’t used, wouldn’t it be better to simply say what substance was purchased?! They realize this is a lost game on their part. And if it comes to the ‘scapegoat bucket,’ the one at risk isn’t Irakli Garibashvili, but Irakli Kobakhidze! At some point, Ivanishvili has to ‘wash’ Kobakhidze, right? He might consider this the right moment to clean him and make it stick!” - this is Gia Khukhashvili’s assessment of the investigative material published by BBC.

Khukhashvili is convinced that the BBC story will trigger a very serious reaction.

As he told Palitra News’ program Daily Newsroom, the first serious blow will come from Britain and then continue across the Western world like dominoes.

“‘Georgian Dream’ has embarrassed itself, quite comically. This has taken on the character of a tragicomedy. The simple reality, which those of us observing the processes already knew well, is that apart from stupidity, this government doesn’t stand out for intellect either. Initially, Vakhtang Gomelauri stepped forward, who has his own problems and decided to show himself. He naively thought that he could pin this gas story on the ‘National Movement.’ He made a completely foolish statement - of course, from the government’s perspective. Others also considered it possible to pin it on the ‘Nats,’ because they always blame everything on them. After public questions arose, the position was corrected. They realized they had done something stupid and jumped into the trap. By the way, Interior Minister Gelashvili made two statements. The first didn’t explicitly say that the gas wasn’t purchased. Gelashvili emphasized that it wasn’t specifically ‘Camite.’

Later, when questions continued from the public, they tried to give new answers to new questions and ended up contradicting themselves. Finally, they said that nothing was purchased even during the ‘Nats’ period.

‘Camite’ falls under the category of a lethal chemical agent, and they cannot claim that it was intended for the enemy, because if it were for the enemy, it should have been under the Ministry of Defense, not the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In the end, they denied it entirely, because even storage of such a substance would be a crime. When they realized this, they flailed and tried to make everything disappear.

They say ‘Camite’ doesn’t exist. Apologies, but the government differs from ordinary citizens in that while citizens enjoy the presumption of innocence, the government cannot. The government is obliged to answer any arising questions and prove its innocence.

Apologies again, but instead of trying to prove that ‘Camite’ wasn’t there, wouldn’t it be better to say what substance was purchased?! They understand this game is already lost and now propaganda is aimed at those who don’t think and are ready to believe the government in everything.

The BBC story does not categorically state that the substance is ‘Camite.’ The report mentions a certain group of gas according to a code. That code encompasses a wide range of gases, but apparently, ‘Camite’ was used previously, and it is suspected that it might have been ‘Camite’ this time as well. It could have been a completely different substance, but all gases in that group are dangerous.

Historically, we know how Britain reacts to the use of chemical or biological weapons, and the BBC enjoys high credibility. The BBC’s conclusion is a serious basis for activating mechanisms that are directly against the government, i.e., serious sanctions policy,” Khukhashvili said.

Khukhashvili also believes that in a few days, there will be a very strong reaction from international partners.

“Britain will start this first, and the first serious blow to the government will come from Britain. After that, everything in the Western world will operate on a domino principle. Once the reaction happens in Britain, it will spread to Europe and eventually the United States. No matter what hope they have in Trump, this is a topic that even Trump cannot ignore,” Khukhashvili said.

He added that if the situation escalates significantly, there could be a “scapegoat bucket” moment, but the former Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, will not be the one. Khukhashvili is confident that discussions are ongoing about who might have passed the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ materials to the BBC, but the idea that Garibashvili could have done it is “nonsense.”

“Garibashvili doesn’t have the brain to do such things. Our society tends to glorify characters at certain stages and create myths about their capabilities. Garibashvili is not worth that. He doesn’t have enough brain to do such things.

It’s clear that BBC had serious sources, but these sources should be sought among informed people within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. No one would tell Garibashvili that he had access to any of these materials. If everything comes to the ‘scapegoat bucket,’ then the one at risk isn’t Garibashvili, but Kobakhidze! Gomelauri is just a pawn here and isn’t important at all.

At some point, Ivanishvili has to wash Kobakhidze - put all the filth on him and then clean him. He might see this as the right moment to wash him, and he will make it happen. Kobakhidze might sense this danger and has positioned the topic to suggest that Garibashvili is somehow involved, in order to protect himself. So, this is all a backstage political game.

If Ivanishvili needed to sacrifice his favorite political protégé, Garibashvili, he could do it, and Kobakhidze would be washed in one day, just as instructed,” Khukhashvili concluded.
